Here's what I have learned about my health and nutrition thus far in life:
I have terrible habits when it comes to food.
I can out eat any amount of exercise.
It's starting to catch up with me.
I wanted to take advantage of my freed up summer schedule to get some healthy eating/weight loss momentum going before I have to report back to school in August.
I had no idea where to start or what to do. I knew one of my Facebook friends was a health coach. I knew he had some program that had prepackaged meals and health coaching. I didn't really like the idea of prepackaged, processed food, but I figured it was worth a shot. I also thought who am I to turn up my nose at the program's food given the garbage I ingest now.
I set up an appointment with Mark and he told me about the Take Shape for Life 5 and 1 program. I would eat 6 times a day. Five of them would be the prepackaged Medifast/Optavia bars, shakes, or other item called "fuelings." One meal, the "Lean and Green" meal, is where I can basically eat 5-7 ounces of lean meat and 1 1/2 cups of vegetables. His health coaching services are paid for by me ordering the fuelings.
I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the starter kit for around $285. The shipment was scheduled to arrive on Friday, June 2nd. I planned to begin on the following Monday, June 5th. My wife also decided to do the plan with me. Hers was modified a bit since she is still nursing our youngest. Basically she will eat 3 healthy meals and 3 of the fuelings.
