Week 2

Week 2 presented a lot of challenges.

On Sunday, for lunch, we celebrated my youngest son's birthday at my parent's house and for dinner we did it again at my in-law's. It sucked drinking my smoothie at my parent's house while everyone else ate. It was hard resisting cake and ice cream twice and all the off plan food at dinner. I didn't have cake, but I did have some extra meat and cheese. All in all, not too bad.

On Monday we spent the day in Des Moines. At lunch we went out to eat. I couldn't resist and ordered Pho (a Vietnamese soup). It wasn't too unhealthy, but probably not exactly on the plan. It seemed to scratch my itch to cheat and gave me a renewed focus.

On Thursday we left for St. Louis. In the past road trips are always an excuse to eat out a lot. We also stayed in a hotel with free breakfast. In the past I would use the breakfast buffet as an excuse to overeat. After all, I wanted to get my money's worth. This trip I resisted and made my Medifast oatmeal. Also while my family ate out on our trip, I pretty much stayed on program.

On Saturday we had another birthday celebration. I cheated and ate a few pieces of meat and cheese and some tortilla chips but resisted the cake. On the way home we stopped at a Cracker Barrel and I ordered a low calorie chicken dinner for my Lean and Green.

I feel like food has less power over me. My idea of portion size is healthier. I know that I can eat less and not starve. I am noticing how big a role food has played in the past for various social events and am starting to see how it need not be this way. I am learning some healthier cooking recipes for my Lean and Green meal.

This week my weight loss has slowed down some. I am down 4 lbs (18 total) to 293. I am definitely feeling it in my clothes. I am also noticing that I have more energy. On to Week 3.
