An Update

I haven't posted for awhile; not because I fell off the wagon, but I have just been really busy lately. This is the beginning of the end of summer break for me. Soon, I will be back in the classroom with meetings to attend, tests and papers to grade, lessons to plan, and a myriad of other things that will demand more of my attention. When I began this journey at the beginning of June, I wanted to use the momentum of summer break to develop healthy habits that would hopefully carry into the school year.

I have been weighing myself daily. I have been taking a picture in the same clothes, in the same spot, once a month. I am seeing a difference. That is not to say that I haven't had setbacks. Around my birthday I made some pretty unhealthy choices (Double Zombie Burger Trailer Trash among others), but I dusted myself off and got back on the plan.

I lost 6 pounds in July. I was tempted to add the word "only" to that sentence; because compared to the 30 pounds I lost in June, 6 pounds doesn't seem that great. But I've decided that six pounds is six pounds closer to my goal. I think my body just needed time to readjust after losing so much weight in June, that combined with some of my poor food choices probably caused my July plateau. To be honest, I didn't feel to bad about my July weight loss because I choose to focus on the process and not the result. The result is going to come (I am seeing it), my job is to simply work the plan.

Today when I weighed myself I was down to 270 pounds. I'm down 41 pounds since the beginning of June. I can see and feel the difference. I have a lot more energy. My clothes fit me differently. I just overall feel better. That's what I'll choose to focus on.
